Distress Ink Holder

Our challenge this month was to create an up-cycled project, at first I was really stumped.  I don't normally "alter" things and I don't even own any Modge Podge.   Then I decided to create an ink holder for my distress inks which have recently started to grow.  I based my idea from my stickles holder but when I turned it on the side I realized it needed to be modified to work.  Here is my distress ink holder and a tutorial of how I made it.

Step 1: Measure your box and determine the amount of slots that you will be able to fit horizontally and vertically (mine was 2 x 7).

Step 2: Cut stripts of light cardboard to fit the horizontal (mine used 1) and vertical sizes (mine used 6).
Step 3:Cut a small slit half way up one all the vertical pieces
Step 4: Take the horizontal piece(s) and measure where they will join with the vertical pieces and cut a small slit halfway up.
Step 5: Join the vertical pieces to the horizontal piece(s) by inserting the slits of the vertical pieces to the slits in the horizontal piece(s)
Step 6: Put this inside the box, you will notice that everything moves around a lot and is  pretty loose
Step 7: In order to make the ink pads stable I created little "cases" to go inside the spaces, repeat this for all the spaces your box has (mine has 14)
Step 8: Put all the small "cases", in the slots and everything should be nice and snug
Step 9: Label your inks and place in your slots, I put my a small piece of velcro on the back and attach the foam applicator pads to them (one for each color)

Blog Hop Winner

I used random org and FlamingoNW you won!  Congrats, can you please send me an email to cswagner at (use the @ symbol) sympatico.ca.  Thanks for all the wonderful comments, some of you wondered about the stamp and it came from the $1 bin at Michaels.  When I realized how well it went with the spellbinders I went back and got another sympathy stamp but they didn't have much left but I really wanted a birthday stamp.  I know some of you wanted a tutorial for the flower.  I just wanted to give you a hint and let you know to stay tuned if you want to see how to make the flower.

Tax Act Flowers

I love making flowers and I recently fell in love with flowers made from pages of the dictionary.  Since I didn't have a dictionary with the thin pages, I used the next best thing the Income Tax Act !  My apologies to my tax teacher if your reading this, but somehow Frank doesn't strike me as the kind of person to follow craft blogs.  This card was made for the Crop Chocolate recipe challenge.  We had to use three die cuts, three brads, and something that sparkles (my favorite part).

Thank you card

Here is a card I made for the last Crop Chocolate challenge.  Our challenge was to use only primary colors (red, yellow, and blue).  I have to admit this took me out of my comfort zone as these are not my usual colors but I am happy with how it turned out.  I really like the look of layering the spellbinders and I am going to do more of this in the future .  I wanted to added another layer but the colors wouldn't work for the challenge.

You hold the key to my heart - Crop Chocolate Challenge

Here is the latest contest over at Crop Chocolate, here are the rules:

According to folklore and tradition, Leap Day is thought of as the time when the woman can propose to the man. Of course, things have changed a lot since then. But sometimes, this still happens (luckily we don't have to wait for a 2/29 to occur). So create a project that depicts how you would have proposed (or would like to) to your significant other, or create an extra special birthday card for someone who has a 2/29 birthday.

I decided to make a card to propose to my sweetie.

The contest closes March 6th so if you get a chance go ahead and enter for your chance to win.  Good luck to everyone

Supplies used:
MME So Sophie Graceful
Spellbinders Labels 10
Spellbinders Heirloom
CTMH Stamps: Key to my heart
