Tri Shutter Card

I made this card for the latest challenge at Crop Chocolate, its called a tri shutter card and her is the tutorial I made for it. The current challenge is to use two different paper lines, have three folds, and be spring themed (you have till May 2nd to enter).  This card lends it self to these requirements since you need a couple of different papers and it has lots of folds.  I love making these cards and I might end up making a few more since I don't want to give this one away.

Envelope Mini Album

The latest challenge for the focus group challenge was to create a project based on one of the CC Design Teams previous projects.  I had been wanting to try this Envelope Mini Album for some time and this seemed like the perfect challenge.  I kept the embellishment to a minimum because I made this album for my young daughter, I needed something that could stand up to the "love" a 5 yr old would give it.   She just lost her precious kitty Sammy and this album is for her pictures of him.. I let her pick out the pictures and did the journalling after, she loved this album and has shown it to everyone.  It has helped her in her grieving process, which has been hard for me to watch so I am glad for this at least.  This kittie used to sleep with her and seemed to have adopted her after she came along that I forgot that he was my cat first.

Crop Chocolate Challenge #12

Head on over to Crop Chocolate and check out the latest challenge #12.  This weeks challenge is to make a project using a homemade flower.  I made this one from some lace trim and some extra ribbon I had hanging around.  The flower matched the MME Stella and Rose paper that I decided to make another pop up slider card.  The last one was so much fun to make so I decided to try another.  Head on over to the challenge its open till April 24th and you can win crop credits for entering.  Good luck to everyone.

Crop Chocolate Grab Bags

After a recent warehouse sale Crop Chocolate recently had a grab bag called an Easter Basket for $5.  I love the post warehouse grab bags, I always get such a bargain and this was no exception.  I ordered three bags and put them in the cart one by one as opposed to three at once.   The reason I mention this is that I know people who ordered in multiples of  2 or 3 got everything in one bag (no duplicates) and it was marked as such.  My Easter Baskets all came in separate bags.  The good news is that I can detail what one grab bag contains, but the bad news (if it can be called such a thing) is that I got some duplicates.  Generally when you get a bag marked x2 or x3 you don't get duplicates, at least that has been my experience.  I am beyond thrilled at the what I got, I was really hoping for some MME So Sophie Charming and Savvy embellishments and I got lots.

Dhalia Flower Tutorial

I made some of these Dahlia flowers for a few recent cards and the ladies at Crop Chocolate requested a tutorial so by popular request here it is.

Dahlia Fold Flower

Supplies

· 8 circles of the same size, they can be regular or scalloped (I used EP Springtime)
· 1 slightly larger circle
· Button or brad for the center

Instructions

  1.  Take one of the circles and fold in half and crease2. Fold in half again but pinch on the outside edge, don’t crease, you are just marking where the quarter mark is.
  2. Unfold the circle
  3. Take the bottom right side and fold in towards the centre in between the quarter marks, repeat for the left side
  4. Flip over and fold bottom right edge to the centre line, repeat for the left side
  5. Repeat all steps for the other remaining 7 circles
  6. Take the larger circle and fold in half and in half again (crease each fold)
  7. Unfold the circle
  8. Glue the first petal on the crease of one of the quarter marks, repeat for all the petals. Use the crease lines as your guide for the centre and to line up the petals
  9. Add a button or brad to the centre.

Up-Cycled Flower

I made this card for a recent challenge at Crop Chocolate.  The challenge was to create an up-cycled flower.  I used left over packaging to cut and then emboss the acetate flower.  I like the look of embossing die cut acetate and the spellbinders cut the plastic really well.

Supplies Used:

  • MME 6x6 Madison Ave
  • Spellbinders Blossoms 2
  • Spellbinders Labels 3
  • CB Victoria Embossing Folder
  • Bling

Pop Up Slider Card

I created this card for the latest Crop Chocolate challenge which is to make a project based on a song.  My husbands birthday is coming up and it's been on my mind.  I have to admit I really struggle to make masculine cards, I think its because I am a flower junkie.  I love flowers and flourishes and they obviously just don't go on masculine cards.  I had been seeing these pop up slider cards lately and decided to finally try one, its been one of those techniques on my to do list for years.  I am really happy with how it turned out and I think I have found a go to card for masculine birthdays.
