Growing in Unity Day # 2

Thanks for stopping by again for my growing in Unity Week.  I just love their stamps and one of my favorite lines in the Phyllis Harris stamps.  She also sells prints on Etsy and I have bought some for the kids rooms (she will also customize them for you).  I decided to use one of my Phyliss Harris stamps and went back to one of my absolute favorites.  My daughter will be starting a new school soon and I always thought this stamp was so inspiring for girls.  It's been one of my favorite and well used stamps of hers, but there are so many favorites.

Please leave a comment and at the end of the week I will randomly select two winners who will receive a prize pack of 25 random unity stamps.  Good luck to everyone and don't forget to check yesterdays post, I will be selecting from all the comments.

HIMCR #260 - Christmas in July!!

Welcome to the Christmas in July Challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room, this weeks challenge is sponsored by DCWV.  They are one of my favorite paper companies and I personally love their stacks for mini albums especially, its very economical especially when you give them as gifts.  I made this card from the French Country Stack, it wasn't Christmas but I love the shabby/vintage look of this stack and these papers were the perfect backdrop for this Snow Peep from Unity.  Don't forget to enter for your chance to win a box of goodies worth $100, I can't wait to see what you come up with.

HIMCR #258 - Super Scraps Saturday with a Twist! Make is Christmas!

It's time for another challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room, this weeks challenge is Super Scraps with a Twist, the twist is to make it Christmas.  This weeks challenge is being sponsored by Digital Delights and the winner will receive a $5 GC to spend in their store.

Since I haven't got much Christmas scraps right now I decided to do non traditional colors and grabbed this scrap from my sweet tangerine stack from DCWV.  I based the card colors off the muted tones in the paper, added a few sequins and voila.  I really like how this turned out, and will remember to try non traditional colors next time.  Even the brown matting was a scrap from last weeks project, see it pays not to clean up once in a while :).  Good luck and I can't wait to see your creations.

HIMCR #255 - Masculine !

It's another Saturday which means its time for a new Hiding in My Craft Room Challenge.  This weeks challenge is masculine and its being sponsored by Pickled-Potpourri.  They have generously donated a Gift Certificate for their store.  Since Father's day is this Sunday I decided to make a Father's day card for my husband.  I loved these cute trains and think they were perfect for father's day.  Unfortunately it looks like my red marker is almost dried out so the red color isn't as smooth as I would have liked so I guess I need to do some shopping ;).

Growing in Unity Day # 3

Welcome to day 3 of my Growing in Unity, it's my second time doing it and it is a complete blast.  I am a huge fan of Unity Stamps, and while I used to prefer clear stamps I have now become a red rubber fan.  I love the quality of the stamps and while some companies make great quality clear some do not and I find I don't have to worry about the image quality when am using them.  Please leave a comment on each day of my blog and I will draw two winners to receive 25 random Unity Stamps.

With the Christmas season coming up I need to get some teacher and daycare gifts done.  I used the Angie Girl Jen (teacher), and colored the image and then fussy cut it out.  I then stamped the blackboard on black cardstock and heat embossed the white ink with embossing powder to get a more vibrant image.   I will be giving the teachers a set of thank you cards as a gift so be sure to check out tomorrows post to see one of the sets.

Growing in Unity Day # 1

I am so excited, I can't believe its that time again but I am incredibly honoured to be this weeks Growing in Unity Girl for the week.  I love Unity stamps and last year I took the plunge and signed up for the stamp of the month kit.  I absolutely love getting my kit each month, but my favorite part is that it give me a chance to use stamps that I wouldn't have otherwise chosen for myself.  This card is an example, while I absolutely love the stamp I don't know if I would have bought it without having a use in mind.  Well after using it I knew it would be perfect for a wedding, engagement card or even valentines card for my hubby. Please leave a comment and at the end of the week I will randomly select two winners who will receive a prize pack of 25 random unity stamps.  Good luck to everyone.

Using my SOTM-FWF

I was recently lucky enough to be given a subscription to Unity's stamp of the month club by my very sweet husband.  One of the things I love about getting the kit is that I get stamps I might not normally choose for myself and the woods were one of those.  I had also recently gotten some gesso but hadn't actually used it and this seemed like the perfect stamp to try stamping it with.  I love how it turned out and I even used my husbands Gelato's (got them as a Christmas gift for him, cough, cough ...).  We both love using the Gelato's so I see "us" getting some more in the future.

Believe

I made recently got the Kit of the Month for Christmas, and couldn't wait to use it.  I had these pictures taken of my daughter in the summer and I knew the paper and stamp would be perfect (don't you love it when that happens).  I have been resolved to make more layouts this year and make a bigger dent in the stash.  This one uses new and old stuff which always makes me feel good to use some old stuff (seriously have a ton of border stickers/die cuts to use) but I and finding a new use for them as my style changes again.  I picked all my accent colors based on the current Unity Be Inspired Challenge, it is my goal this year to get more scrapping done, and I plan on using challenges as a way to kick start it.

My Big Birthday Boy

Wow where does the time go?  My baby just turned five and my daughter turned 8.  Sigh I know everyone feels this way but they are growing up so fast.  I always struggle with boy cards since they are not my usual style but I am happy with how this turned out and he loved it.  He specifically asked me to make him one with this stamp and he was so excited to get it.  It was cute to see his reaction.

FWF-My Daughter's Snow Peep Card

I have been making a bunch of Christmas cards lately, and when my 8 year old daughter saw the snow peep stamps she was in heaven.  She loves playing with my unity stamps and when I came home from work yesterday she showed me this.   Daddy cut her some shapes on the Cameo and she did the rest.  She asked me to post this because she is just like any crafter and loves getting nice comments on her work (she is just a bit more honest about it).

I love Big Books and I can not lie

I just love this stamp from Unity, I bought it specifically for the end of year teacher gifts.  My daughter helped make the cards as well and I had to explain the joke to her.  Not sure my husband apprciated me teaching "the song" to my seven year old daughter.  Finally got the mini albums done and these went with them.  I will post a picture and video of the albums later but for now I need to get ready for a nice long weekend.

FWF-My daughters creation

My 7 yr old daughter loves to scrapbook with me and with all the seriousness a 7 year old can muster tells all her friends and teachers she is a scrapbooker.  She made this card when we went to a church crop (she made a few) and I would love it if you could offer her some encouragement.  She loved reading the comments last time it really meant the world to her.  I love to encourage her creative side and I am very proud of her creations and I love watching her develop her own style (very different then mine she doesn't like floral paper gasp!!!)

Growing in Unity Day 5

Well it's my last day for Growing in Unity and I loved it so much I hope to do it again next year.  My last card was made at my daughter's request.  I love this stamp because it reminds me of her and her friend, she asked me to make a card and then she did the same.  She gave her friend the other one and then kept this one so that they could have matching stamps.

Unfortunately her friend just isn't in to scrap booking because it would have been nicer if her friend could have made one but at least she has her mom.  I have to admit I have been on a teal kick lately, must be the regret from getting the grey Raskog cart instead of teal.  Since then I have been buying everything in that color and wish I had of gotten the cart in that color even if it didn't match the room.  I am thinking of painting a room in this color because I love it so much.

Growing in Unity Day 3

Wow I can't believe it's day three already, I was so excited for my week and it is just flying by.  I really enjoy all the comments and I appreciate you taking the time to write them.  I have to admit lately I have become addicted to the Phyllis Harris Stamps at Unity and now that I am more comfortable coloring and cutting I have been using them lots (plus it's so much fun to do with my daughter).

This stamp reminds me so much of my daughter when she was younger, she called them "pezzle puffs" and never let one go to waste.  I plan on using this as a note card when she has another french presentation, she gets nervous but has to do them once a month and I like to give her a little note of encouragement.
