MIMCR # 264 Any Holiday

HIMCR #264 - Any Holiday!

The sponsor is Hiding in My Craft Room!
The giveaway is TBA!

Welcome to the Hiding in My Craft Room Any Holiday Challenge.  This weeks challenge is to create a project for any holiday.  For this week's post I decided to do something for Halloween since I have done a lot of Christmas lately.  This is a tag I made to go on a Halloween page.  My son loves super heros and dressed up as Spiderman last year so I thought this would be perfect for the page.  I made the web from decoden bling and added glitter while it was still wet.  I love how it turned out.

Growing in Unity Day # 5

Well its my last day for Growing in Unity and I hope you enjoyed the projects, I know I have enjoyed creating them.  Don't forget to leave a comment on each day this week for your chance to be one of two lucky people who will receive a random selection of 25 Unity Stamps.

This last card is a Christmas card I made using the cutest snowman stamps called Little Frosty Friends.  I love making easel cards, they are kind of my go to card.  I think it must be the size and shape (I love square cards) that make it my favorite and while I try not to over do them I couldn't not do one for this week.   For the stopper on the easel part I cut out two poinsettias from the Spellbinders set and used sequins as the centres.  I really like how it turned out and will use it for some of my Christmas cards this season.  I can't give everyone one because many people don't know how to open/prop them up.

Fun with Decoden Bling-FWF

Recently I was lucky enough to be sent some DecoDen Bling to try.  It's really an interesting and fun product to play with.  It holds glitter very well and I have been experimenting with various ways to use it.  I used it to make the melting icicles on the stand for this card.  The stand is actually a lemonade stand from Unity but I thought it would be cute for a snow peep (it reminds me of Candy Cane stand pictures I did this year with the kids).  I just covered up the flowers and added the icicles made with the DecoDen bling.  I love how this turned out but now the kids are fighting over who gets the card, when in fact I want to keep it.

Precious Parts

Sharing another layout from my son's baby album.  This is one I planned before he was born (I was inspired by another layout with similar pictures).  I kept taking pictures of his hands, feet, etc but what always struck me was how small his hands were in ours.  So I took a picture of his hand in ours with my husband, daughter and myself.

First Impressions

Here is another layout from my son's album.  These were taken in the hospital when everyone came to meet him.  He was so tiny and so cute, and seemed so fragile (he was just over 6lbs).   I combined some old and new in this layout, there are some older MME papers mixed with some new Simple Stories Oh Snap Baby cards.  I love combining some old and new stuff since I feel justified in getting both.

What's up Doc?

Just getting caught up with some projects that I haven't posted, I am starting to finish my son's 1st year album and I love looking at how he has grown.  I started this layout while punching some hexagons from scraps at the time I was at a crop and didn't have time to finish.  When I got home it sat in a pile till I found it again and decided to finish it.  I love use of hidden journaling pockets at this one is no different.  This is the doctor who delivered both of my children, he was such a great doctor I remembered being so happy that I got him as my OBGYN.  I loved using the hexagons that I had to scour and find a die set for more sizes and I am happy to say I did.  They are so much fun to work with.

It's hard to see in the photo but I popped up some of them for a bit of added dimension

Twinkle Twinkle

The first time I saw the twinkle twinkle stamp I just knew I had to have it for my son's album and all the baby cards I like to make.  I just got back from a retreat and made a huge dent in the stack of photo's for my son's album (he is now four so its time to finish LOL).  In some ways I am glad his album is behind because I so many better supplies than when he was born but it also is hanging over me to get it finished.  He just loved playing with the cats and would crawl over and lie down on them (the cats were so patient with him). Here is a project from the weekend retreat I went on, I got a total of 17 pages done and got the rest of the album planned/organized so it should go much faster from here.

Christmas Mini's

Today I am sharing the first of three mini albums I made for Christmas gifts.  This is actually the last one I made and it was for my daughter.  I made the other two for my mom and my mother in law and when she saw them she asked for one.  I have to admit it was a bit of a rush to finish hers in time but I love how it turned out and so did she.  Once I have all three posted I will link a video showing each album since they are very hard to photograph.  One thing that is hard to see in the pictures is that each page has a top pocket with a tab that holds photo mats for more photos.  This style album holds tons of 4x6 pictures and makes a great gift for non scrappers since they don't need to crop the pictures down.

Spellbinders Blog Ambassador Mini

 Spellbinders Blog Ambassador Mini Album

I am excited to finally share my latest mini album I made.  I made a similar one as a Christmas gift and I had so much fun I decided to make another.  I was never one for making mini albums but I love this style of album because it holds 4x6 pictures which makes it perfect for gift giving.  Its very interactive with a pocket on each page with a photo tag/mat, mini file folder, or matchbook mini inside.  On the outside pockets are additional photo mats with the tabs sticking out.

One of my favorite parts was making the letters, I love the new fonts from Spellbinders and because they cut chipboard you can make dimensional titles with them.  I have a tutorial here, I used the 1" Miracle tape from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  It's great for making mini albums and comes in so many sizes at a reasonable price.

Sometimes it can be hard to photograph albums like this and show all the different elements so I made a quick video showing the album here:

FWF Masculine Birthday Card

I don't know about you but I always struggle to make masculine birthday cards, I find it hard not to make them with flourishes, flowers and bling.  I decided to keep this one on the simple side which is why I stuggled with it.  In the end I was pleased but I think I will keep on trying masculine cards so that I can build a stash and not have to panic when I need one.

FWF-Your Wings Exist

I just love using this stamp set from Unity, its called your wings exist and I love using it on cards for my daughter.  It has a beautiful sentiment that says "Your wings exist, all you need to do is fly".  It is such an uplifting message and one I hope my daughter never forgets.

Favorites Challenge and FWF

I made this card for the recent favorites challenge at Crop Chocolate.  We had to use a stamp and something that is our favorite.  Well my favorite stamps are Unity, my favorite card is an easel card, my favorite dies are spellbinders, and the butterfly ones are my favorite and my favorite paper is the heavy textured paper like I used on this card.

Spellbinders International Flair - Shadow Box

I have to admit I have become addicted to making these shadow boxes, and when I received my radiant rectangles recently all I could think about was beautiful it would be for a shadow box.  This has to be one of my favorite die sets and I honestly don't think the online pictures it justice you need to see it in person.  It is very versatile and you can mix and match to create endless combinations.  It love the delicacy and detail in the designs, I can tell it will become one of my go to dies.  I made a tutorial on instructagram and here is the blog post  if you want to make your own shadow box. I used the beautiful stamps created by Momas a fellow International Blog Ambassador (Image is from Hibiscus and Lily, and the sentiment is from Dogwood and Roses).

Cocoa Creators Challenge #2

The challenges are continuing at Crop Chocolate and I made this one based on DeeDee's awesome sketch.  I am not normally a one picture scrapbooker so this was a challenge but I think it turned out nicely.  This is a picture taken of my son when he was born.  I am behind on his album and I am trying to use the challenges as a way to get it caught up (wish me luck).

Button Bingo

I have another project from the Crop Chocolate NSD challenge to post, this was for the sketch challenge.  I love stamping on craft and I am going to try it with colored images next.    I think this card would be great for my son, I always struggle with boy cards but the MME Indie Chic is well suited for this and I love the muted colors.  The small stamps are from the Spellbinders star circles, I cut out one of the cirlces and used the little star bits for the corners..

Your Wings Exist

I made this card for the NSD Crop at Crop Chocolate, they are closing down the retail portion of the site but the social part is still remaining.  This was for the sun burst challenge, and I used the I Top Punch that came in one of my hot chocolate's for the sun.  I made another card using this stamp for the out of your comfort zone challenge and I liked coloring so much I made another.  This was the third time using my markers and I can see why is so addictive.  This stamp is from Unity Stamps and it reminds me of my daughter, the inside says "Your wings exist, you all you need to do is fly".  Its a little note of encouragement for my daughter who loves to get cards in her lunch.
