Cuttin’ and Stampin’ DT call 2014

Cuttin' and Stampin's is having a DT call, and I thought I would throw my hat in the ring.  I miss the pressure of deadlines that get the creative juices flowing and plus they sell dies (I am so excited about this part).  I have been scrapping since 2007 after daughter was born (my husband actually suggested it, LOL) and now she is 7 and likes to scrapbook with me.

Thank you Sensei

I made this card for my daughters awesome Karate Sensei, he leads the Karate for Christ program in our area and despite some setbacks to the program from outsiders he has never given up on his passion. They have almost 100 people in the program right now and its a great ministry which has seen a huge growth.  The amount of time he spends teaching the kids and then training the leaders is astounding (3 nights a week for several hours).  My husband started as a leader this year and since I don't know karate this was my contribution (plus we wanted to let him know how much we appreciate his passion and dedication)

On the inside I stamped a Unity Sentiment and cut it out but I loved this little karate girl stamp and this was the perfect use for it.

Use your scraps challenge

I made this birthday card for the Cuttin' and Stampin' use your scraps challenge.  It's hard to believe that my beautiful niece is turning one, but she is (cant' believe how time flies).  This card is made entirely from scraps including the card base (it was left over from the snow flakes on the gift card holders).  I made about 4 different butterflies before settling on this one,  it didn't seem right to emboss, or ink it, just seemed better plain, even though CAS is not my thing I just went with what works.

Gift Card Holder with Tutorial

Where does the time go?  I can't believe that Christmas is almost here, but at least I am almost done my shopping.  I actually hate the crowded malls so I try to start early, but with the kids getting older I am running out of places to hide things.  One of the last things I get are gift cards for the kids teachers, etc.  but while I know they are appreciated they just are not as fun for me to give.  That is why I like to make these gift card holders to put them in.  This way I can add that personal touch that I feel is sometimes missing from a gift card.  I stamped a sentiment on the inside but still left room to write a personalized message for the recipient.

Volunteer Thank You

I made these cards to go with a small gift that I will be giving to the volunteers in the Preschool Class I teach at church.  I will post the gift after this week (no sneak peaks) but I wanted to make a nice thank you card to go with the gift to let them know how appreciated they are.  I love teaching the 2 and 3 year olds but lets be honest it can be a challenging age group and these are people who actually want to be there and I can't thank them enough for making a difference in the life of a small child.

Gate Fold Card

This is a quick gate fold card I made for my daughter's lunch.  She loves getting little cards in her lunch and it gives me a way to use up some scraps.  I bought this set from Unity to specifically make cards for lunches as it just seemed like the perfect set.

Happy 7th Birthday

I made this card for my daughters classmate who is turning 7.  My go to shape for little boys is the 3D star and I love these ticket stamps from Unity.  I always struggle with boy cards but this one came together pretty easily for me.  Maybe it means I am getting better at them, who knows the next one will probably be a struggle knowing my luck.

FWF-Happy Birthday

I can't believe my little baby just turned 7, sigh where does the time go?  My little sweetheart loves bling and the color purple so I came up with this card.  She loved it and said it was perfect (I thought she would want more bling lol).

Another Baby - Congratulations !!!

I just love it when people in the family have babies, it gives me an excuse to make my favorite onsie card and use my favorite Twinkle Twinkle stamp set from Unity.  The inside says "Twinkle, Twinkle little star, do you know how loved you are".  Its such a sweet sentiment and this is the second time I got to use it, the baby sentiment is one I got in the FWF grab bag for commenting so I don't know what set it goes to but it goes great on the front.

Die Cut Easel Card

I just love making easel cards and one of my favorite kinds is the die cut easel card.  The only thing is that not all my family knows how to open them and it can be a a bit awkward when I have to show them how to open it and display it.  Luckily I think I have them all trained by now and I can make them to my hearts content

Spellbinders Blog Ambassador Mini

 Spellbinders Blog Ambassador Mini Album

I am excited to finally share my latest mini album I made.  I made a similar one as a Christmas gift and I had so much fun I decided to make another.  I was never one for making mini albums but I love this style of album because it holds 4x6 pictures which makes it perfect for gift giving.  Its very interactive with a pocket on each page with a photo tag/mat, mini file folder, or matchbook mini inside.  On the outside pockets are additional photo mats with the tabs sticking out.

One of my favorite parts was making the letters, I love the new fonts from Spellbinders and because they cut chipboard you can make dimensional titles with them.  I have a tutorial here, I used the 1" Miracle tape from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.  It's great for making mini albums and comes in so many sizes at a reasonable price.

Sometimes it can be hard to photograph albums like this and show all the different elements so I made a quick video showing the album here:

FWF Masculine Birthday Card

I don't know about you but I always struggle to make masculine birthday cards, I find it hard not to make them with flourishes, flowers and bling.  I decided to keep this one on the simple side which is why I stuggled with it.  In the end I was pleased but I think I will keep on trying masculine cards so that I can build a stash and not have to panic when I need one.

Friends with Flair

It's friends with flair time, I decided to breakout my new boarder die from spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One.  Its such an elegant die and I had planned to add more elements but when I added them on they seemed too much so in the end I left them off and kept it clean and simple.  Its hard to see in the picture (sorry battery died) but the card stock is a shimmer cardstock.

FWF - Celebrating the big 60

I made this person for an upcoming birthday in the family, this person was like my second mother growing up and she is having a big birthday.  Its a take on another card I made but after I made the frist one I thought of ways to make it better and instead of flowers I used a fan (my new favorite so watch for a tutorial coming soon, measurements included) and I used my favorite sentiment.

Sigh it's almost back to school time

Where does the time go, in three short weeks my son will be starting junior kindegarten.  It's such a bittersweet momment and since I always send a card for the first day I have to make two this year.  I decided to use the DCWV sketch challenge as my starting point and used the Be Mine stack.  I recently made a mini albm in this and had some large scrap pieces handy.  I also made another for my daughter and made them the same to keep it simple plus this sketch was a lot of fun.

Here is the sketch:

Purple and Green CC Challenge

I made this card for the latest challenge at CropChocolate. the challenge was to make something using purple and green.  My daughter loves the color purple so I have tons of it and decided to make it my main color with some green accents.  I love this stamp from Unity and couldn't wait to use it.  Here is the easel card I made:

FWF-Your Wings Exist

I just love using this stamp set from Unity, its called your wings exist and I love using it on cards for my daughter.  It has a beautiful sentiment that says "Your wings exist, all you need to do is fly".  It is such an uplifting message and one I hope my daughter never forgets.
