Thank you card - 3 Girl Jam Challenge/FWF

I made this thank you card for the 3 Girl Jam December Challenge, there is still time to enter here.  I can never have too many thank you cards on hand, if you haven't tried their ribbon you should.  I has a nice stretch to it that makes tying it on cards so much easier than regular ribbon and it comes in such pretty colors too.  They also have some really cute flairs in the store, including super hero's which I am hiding from the kids at the moment LO.

Don't be afraid to Sparkle

One of my resolutions for this year is to get some more layouts done.  I have a huge pile of pictures waiting to be scrapped and a ton of paper and supplies and I need to get using them more.  I plan on entering some challenges and this one is for the Hiding in My Craftroom challenge #180.  A while ago I won some washi tape and sequins from Hazel and Ruby, the package with the sequins had a picture on the back that said "Don't be afraid to sparkle a little brighter darling".  I kept the package because I loved this quote.  When I saw this paper from Craft Smith I knew it would be perfect for this quote.  I have also been experimenting with Decoden Bling and made the letters in Darling with a silicone mold.  I love the way the letters turned out, they were just perfect for this layout.

Merry Christmas-FWF

I hope everyone had a great holiday.  We spent the day with my family and it was one of my favorite Christmas's in recent memory.  I am also one lucky girl, my husband got me a subscription to the kit of the month from Unity and a bunch of Unity Stamps.  My husband and I have a tradition of making cards for each other and here is the one I made for him.  I forgot to take pictures before writing in it so that is why there is a piece of white cardstock in the inside.  Unity has a great sale going on right now and you can use the code LOVEU55 to get 55% off your order.  One of my most versatile sets from them is the Samantha Walker Blossom Stackers, even if you don't have the dies its a really nice set.

My Big Birthday Boy

Wow where does the time go?  My baby just turned five and my daughter turned 8.  Sigh I know everyone feels this way but they are growing up so fast.  I always struggle with boy cards since they are not my usual style but I am happy with how this turned out and he loved it.  He specifically asked me to make him one with this stamp and he was so excited to get it.  It was cute to see his reaction.

FWF-My Daughter's Snow Peep Card

I have been making a bunch of Christmas cards lately, and when my 8 year old daughter saw the snow peep stamps she was in heaven.  She loves playing with my unity stamps and when I came home from work yesterday she showed me this.   Daddy cut her some shapes on the Cameo and she did the rest.  She asked me to post this because she is just like any crafter and loves getting nice comments on her work (she is just a bit more honest about it).

CAS Christmas Card

I am making Christmas cards again this year and have learned through the years to keep it CAS. I  need to make large quantities and after having made complicated cards over the years, I have learned my lesson.  I get bored making the same card for days on end, this is something I can whip up fairly quickly and still looks good.  I got the washi tape at Walmart with the gift wrap so it doesn't count as scrappy spending right ;)

Fun with Decoden Bling-FWF

Recently I was lucky enough to be sent some DecoDen Bling to try.  It's really an interesting and fun product to play with.  It holds glitter very well and I have been experimenting with various ways to use it.  I used it to make the melting icicles on the stand for this card.  The stand is actually a lemonade stand from Unity but I thought it would be cute for a snow peep (it reminds me of Candy Cane stand pictures I did this year with the kids).  I just covered up the flowers and added the icicles made with the DecoDen bling.  I love how this turned out but now the kids are fighting over who gets the card, when in fact I want to keep it.

Thank you card set

I am sharing a set of thank you cards I made, I have been wanting to try using a rollerball with embossing folders so I gave it a try.  I  will post a tutorial on how to make them but I think a video works best for this technique so when I get a chance I will do so.  I made the box with a paper from the Craftsmith and I have to say I love how it folds.  No cracking at all, nice and smooth, so excited to use it again (got some more this week ;) ).

Christmas Ornament

Well I don't know about where you live, but right now winter is here with a big bang.  We got a foot in one night.  I know that is nothing compared to Buffalo but its cold.  Of course the kids are super excited they get to play in the snow, build snowmen, make snow angles.  I have started on Christmas crafts and decided to make some ornaments, I cut four spellbinders Parisian Accents and scored and folded each one and then glued them together.  I stamped the centers with Unity Snow Flake Kisses, they turned out cute.

Hexagon Card

A while back I made a card using hexagons as the back ground.  I loved the look and decided to try it again but this time I popped some of the hexagons up.  I also tried something else new, using the spellbinders dies as a stencil for mists.  It's a very subtle look since I used a clear mist and its very hard to photograph but the butterfly has is sparkly in the parts that have been embossed.  Please don't mind the sentiment, its straight but because of the angle I used it looks a bit off (at least to me it does).  It was a tough call because I wanted to get a picture showing the dimension of some of the hexagons and the glimmer on the butterfly wings and in the camera angle something had to give.

Teacher Appreciation # 3

Here is the last of the mini albums I made for the kids teachers last June.  This was also made with the Monsters and Robots stack from DCWV.  The albums made with this stack were perfect for my son's Kindergarten teacher/assistant.  I even made the covers from his favorite snack Blueberry Yogurt Breakfast Bear Paws.  It was a special treat she used to give him and when I told her she thought it was a special touch.  I also had son write a thank you note to them and I put this in an envelope on the inside cover.

Here is a picture of all three albums together and a video I made of them.  They are very hard to photograph so that is why I created a video to show them as well.

Teacher Appreciation # 2

Phew this has been a super busy week, I had to unexpectedly go out of town and to top it off it was my daughters birthday today.  This meant that after I was down taking the kids trick or treating I had to make a doll cake (you know the kind where the cake is the skirt).  It was a late night last night but she loved it.  I even had time to pull out my bag maker and used it to make some quick and easy treat bags for the party.

I am posting the second teacher appreciation album (a little late I know) but the good news is I did find a video. So when I post the third one, I will add the video showing all three of them.  This was made for my son's junior kindergarten teacher.  She was amazing and I even had him write a thank you note for her.

Teacher Appreciation

I was going through posts, and realized I never posted the teacher appreciation mini albums I made for my children's teachers last June.  I was waiting till I gave the teachers their gifts but then never got around to posting the actual albums.  My kids were so blessed to have amazing teachers last year, and in fact my daughter was in tears that her teacher was changing schools.  I decided to make them mini albums and DCWV stacks are perfect for this.  You get so many coordinating elements and papers it makes it easy to put them together.  I am posting the album I made for my daughters teacher, and in the next day or two I will post the two I made for my son's teachers.  Each page has a pocket at the top with a photo mat to pull out, and the mats are all 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" so all the teacher needs to do is add photo's.  I try to make albums for non scrappers easy this way, since I know a lot of them won't want to trim pictures, etc.  I also used the cut apart cards in the stack, and put them in the pockets so they can add journaling etc.

Baby Card - FWF

It's time for another baby card, one of the girls at my new work is going on maternity leave and is having a little girl.  I decided to use my go to baby card but at the same time I wanted to change it up a little.  This time I made a little bib and added the row of onsies (stamped on PP using the EP Little Girl Stamp set from Unity).  I used some twine and some homemade enamel dots on the bottom (can never find white it seems).

I made a video tutorial earlier and if you want to make it here is the link.

My Sweetheart

Phew its been a busy month, but I have been making more progress at getting my son's baby album done.  I used the sketch from the September 2014 Create Magazine that can be found on page 18-19.  I can't post the actual sketch because its an online magazine but it was perfect for these pictures of my son.  I just love this stack it is so perfect for boy layouts and I wish I knew who the manufacturer is.

Happy 4th Birthday-FWF

It's my nephew's 4th Birthday tomorrow and since I struggle with these kinds of cards I decided a sketch was the way to go.  I used this months DCWV Stack a Holic sketch, and the Echo Park Little Boy Stamps from Unity.  It's not the best picture but there was a sick little boy sleeping in the room with all the lights so I had to make do.

Awesome News and a New Layout

First let me start off saying that I am so excited that I have made it to round two of the Imagine Crafts design team.  Here is the announcement and I am a both nervous and excited to have made it through, it is an honour to be included among such talented people.

Second I am sharing a layout I made, the first page was based on the DCWV stackaholic challenge earlier in the year.  It was a one page challenge but I have so many pictures I made it into a two page layout.  Between the vacation album and my son's baby album I have been busy with layouts recently.  I am determined to get through these two albums since I have another vacation to finish LOL.

Precious Parts

Sharing another layout from my son's baby album.  This is one I planned before he was born (I was inspired by another layout with similar pictures).  I kept taking pictures of his hands, feet, etc but what always struck me was how small his hands were in ours.  So I took a picture of his hand in ours with my husband, daughter and myself.

September Stackaholic Challenge

I have been working on finishing my son's first year album and this month's DCWV Stackaholic challenge for DCWV was a two pager which was perfect for getting some pictures done.  I was able to use some old stickers and rub ons which I just love when I am able to use some old stuff from my stash.

Creative Blog Hop

Creative Blog Hop
I am honoured to have been nominated by my very talented friend for the creative blog hop.  Her post can be found here, please feel free to stop by and leave her some love.  As part of the hop I was given four questions which my nominee will also answer.

Here are mine:

1.What am I working on now ?
I have been working yet another mini album, but right now I am trying to get my son's baby album finished (yikes he is almost 5).  I am making some serious progress and bought some new paper so that has re inspired me to finish.

2.  How does my work differ from others in my genre?
I don't really have a specific genre, I have a boy and girl so I flip between CAS and glitter all the time.  I tend to lean towards glitter  so when working on my son's album it has been known to get a bit sparkly.

3.  Why do I create what I do?
It is so much fun and its a great stress relief for me.

4.  How does my creative process work?
It varies, I usually start with paper or stamps and figure something out from there.  I hardly ever turns out like I imagine but sometimes its a good thing.

Here is a sample of the newest layout in my son's album, didn't turn out how I envisioned it but I am happy with the result.

I punched out some of the stars and popped them up for a bit more dimension.

Thank you and New Beginings

Here is another thank you card I made for my former colleagues (still have one more), the new job is going great and while I miss my former colleagues the new ones are great as well.  This is based on this sketch.   I have really started to like sketches for a quick creative start, now to get the last one done.

Thank you and farewell

Well summer is almost over and for me that means sending the kids to school but also the start of a new job.  I made this card as a thank you for my former co-workers who gave me some of the nicest farewell gifts.  I am really going to miss them and I have a few more cards to make since they were incredibly generous.  I used the following sketch as a starting point.

First Impressions

Here is another layout from my son's album.  These were taken in the hospital when everyone came to meet him.  He was so tiny and so cute, and seemed so fragile (he was just over 6lbs).   I combined some old and new in this layout, there are some older MME papers mixed with some new Simple Stories Oh Snap Baby cards.  I love combining some old and new stuff since I feel justified in getting both.

What's up Doc?

Just getting caught up with some projects that I haven't posted, I am starting to finish my son's 1st year album and I love looking at how he has grown.  I started this layout while punching some hexagons from scraps at the time I was at a crop and didn't have time to finish.  When I got home it sat in a pile till I found it again and decided to finish it.  I love use of hidden journaling pockets at this one is no different.  This is the doctor who delivered both of my children, he was such a great doctor I remembered being so happy that I got him as my OBGYN.  I loved using the hexagons that I had to scour and find a die set for more sizes and I am happy to say I did.  They are so much fun to work with.

It's hard to see in the photo but I popped up some of them for a bit of added dimension

Checking in from Summer

WOW I can't believe its been almost a month since I posted.  I have a backlog of projects to post but we have been busy this summer at the trailer we just got and I have no internet access there.  To top it off we have been transforming the add a room so that I can scrapbook in it.  Happy to say that got finished last weekend so this weekend I can relax and work on some stuff (even if I just edit photos to post when I get back).

My downstairs craft area was an absolute disaster from the kids latest projects so I decided after cleaning and putting stuff away a sketch would be a great place to start.  Here is the sketch

and here is my take on it

I love Big Books and I can not lie

I just love this stamp from Unity, I bought it specifically for the end of year teacher gifts.  My daughter helped make the cards as well and I had to explain the joke to her.  Not sure my husband apprciated me teaching "the song" to my seven year old daughter.  Finally got the mini albums done and these went with them.  I will post a picture and video of the albums later but for now I need to get ready for a nice long weekend.

My Little Jumping Bean

Phew its been a busy couple of weeks, I am making 4 mini albums for end of school projects and have been busy with that but I wanted to post some of my son's baby album as well.  This was based on a sketch but I am happy with how it turned out.  He just loved the jolly jumper and when ever he was in it my cat would get in on the action for some extra attention (he loves getting pets in any manner, silly kitty).  I made a slide out journalling pocket on the right side and used my creative page tabs to make a tab pull.

Spellbinders Card Box Purse

Here in Canada the kids are still in school till the end of June and I have been busy with teacher gifts.  I am incredibly lucky that both of my kids have great teachers and great afterschool care but the downside is that I need to make a lot of gifts.  I plan on giving the secreatary a nice set of cards and I wanted something nice to put them in so I made a card purse.  I think these purses are so much fun to make and look so cute.  The cards are still a work in progress (I just can't find a design I like that, I can also mass produce).  I cut the strap out of felt using a spellbinders border die and used the A2 Bracket Border die to decorate the front.

Guest Designer for 3 Girl Jam

I was over the moon to be asked to be a guest designer for 3 Girl Jam.  I just love their ribbon and they even have flair, check out their site and if you decide to order use code KN10 and get 10 % off your order.  Since school is almost out here in Canada I have been busy making thank you gifts, I have so many to make and while the teachers are getting mini albums these are for the day care staff.  I used my pillow box maker from WRM and put a gift card inside.  I think these are so cute and they are a nice way to dress up a gift card.

Mother's Day Cards and Second Sketch Attempt

This is the card I made for both my Mother and Mother in law for Mother's Day.  The last time I tried this sketch I was pretty literal with it but this time I took more liberties with it (that sounds kind of funny in the context of a card ;) ).  I am happier with the result but I think for the card set I am going to try something different since I don't think this is the sketch for me (I really struggled with it).
